Senior Collection Part 2

    Along with majority of my work, I am inspired by strong, independent, empowering women. This collection was no different. The world of lingerie is broad but no matter what, lingerie is a confidence booster for every woman. While researching for this project, I came across several articles that supported that statement. With the rising trend of styling sexier garments including lingerie garments within the "going out"/ "night life" attire, it is challenging the stereotypes of women expressing and showing off their sexuality. This change has a greater impact than most trends. With fashion always being a forefront of change, whether you are talking about social, political, or economical changes, the fashion industry has proven throughout history to have an important role. 

    Just like part one of my senior collection, I researched trends, created a mood board, developed twenty potential sketches, and consulted with my professor on selecting which designs to move forward with. The trends I decided to pick a color based trend as well as a textile based trend that is taking over the industry this season. After selecting the red color trend, "Red Haute" and the trend of using sheer fabrics throughout garments, "Barely There"; I began brainstorming potential designs. After consulting with my professor and collaboratively selecting ten of the initial twenty sketches I moved forward with finding fabric swatches as well as creating flats for each piece. 

   In the future, if I am able to develop this collection, I hope to provide pieces for every woman out there. Continuing to break stereotypes, promoting women empowerment, confidence, along with self and sexual expression.
