Senior Collection Part 1

Overall this collection is inspired by the strong, empowering women within my life and my love for streetwear. With this collection, I wanted to create pieces that can be mixed and matched for several occasions. Whether wearing a blazer, vest, or dress pants in a professional setting, or taking more professional, tailored garments and styling them in non-traditional ways for a night out.

For the first part of my senior collection, I created a this collection, Boss Babe. Which consist of eight looks revolving around business streetwear. After creating a customer profile, researching current trends, creating a mood board, as well as a Textile Board; I began sketching out twenty possible designs for the collection. While researching trends, I was excited to see that suiting and the use of metals were in high demand this year. Considered I already love to implement these two trends into my personal style, I decided to go forward with using "Heavy Hardware" and "Sharp Suiting" as my two selected trends within this collection.

While searching for inspiration, I was drawn to the mixed aesthetics of traditional businesswear and how many are now implementing professional wear into their streetwear styles by wearing them in less traditional ways. I was also drawn to the use of multiple materials. Wether it was simple accents of color blocking or adding things like macramé within the look. After consulting with my professor, we selected eight designs from the initial twenty sketches to move forward with. Using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, I then created a technical flats and style sheets for those eight designs.

I happened to be developing a mini collection for TXFW at the same time I was creating this collection. Therefore decided to make three of my favorite looks from this collection to show at TXFW this past October. Read more about it here
